Andrew Bedford and Kerry Wells, the co-chief executive officers of Ginger Agency in Fredericton, have a history of giving back. For years, Andrew was a search and rescue volunteer and Kerry was involved with the Harvest Music Festival.

It was important to Andrew and Kerry that their digital marketing business also gives back.

“Early on, we realized that the more you give to your community and look after your community, the more your community wants to look after you,” says Andrew.

“It’s important to do good when we can, and we get it back in all sorts of ways,” Kerry explains.

In 2015, Ginger announced that it would donate five per cent of its annual profits to the Fredericton Community Foundation. Since then, it has donated $17,400 to the Foundation’s Community Fund.

Kerry admits that they wrestled with whether to promote Ginger’s charitable contributions but ultimately chose to “shout it from the rooftops” in the hope of influencing other business owners and individuals to support the community.

“Giving back is really important in whatever way that you can. We hope it inspires others to do the same.”

“I like the idea of ‘For Good, Forever,’” Andrew says. “When you have a fund at the Community Foundation, it feels good knowing that no matter what happens to us or the business, that money will be there doing good forever. There’s a comfort in that.”
